We've done bucket lists for autumn, for November, and December. We're on a roll--let's do a bucket list for winter!

I know, I know. Some of you HATE winter. You despise the cold and well, you hate the cold. I get that, honest I do, But instead of being in a snit for a couple of cold months, how about embracing it for a change? They say it's a great time for humankind to take a break and retreat. . . replenish. So this year, maybe one of your New Year's resolutions can be to try to enjoy winter.

Now I myself LOVE winter. I love snuggling by the fireplace, reading a book or watching the bowl games with my hubby. I just love it. I love the clothes, from bulky sweaters, to leather boots, I love winter scarves, and warm socks. I love cold weather--a great excuse to stay home and stay warm, and maybe do a bit of baking. I love it!

So let's proceed with our bucket list for the lovers of winter as well as the haters. Maybe the latter can find something they love about it this year.

This is what I found!

I've culled the internet and Pinterest, looking for a "Winter Bucket List," and these are some of the items I found:
  • Have a DEAR Day. We did these in school, and they're great for individuals too. It stands for "Drop everything and read." Enough said. Catch up on your reading.
  • Make a big pot of chili, stew or chicken-and-dumplings.
  • Set up a card table and a puzzle. Work on it whenever you get the chance.
  • Invite friends over for brunch.
  • Invite your grands over for the day and make sock puppets.
  • If travel is good, bundle up and go visit a local museum. I'm guessing there are some museums in your neighborhood/community. Go visit. Chances are they have a traveling exhibit or they've updated some of your favorites. Check it out. Better yet, invite a friend and then go have lunch.
  • Have breakfast for dinner.
  • Meet a friend for tea. Even better, invite a friend over for tea.
  • Good time to write your resolutions and goals for the new year. I'm sure you've all seen the meme, "You're never too old to dream a new dream."
  • For those winter-haters, plan your spring garden. You can even order your seed packets now.
  • Bake cookies.*
  • Bake bread.
  • Go for a walk in the cool winter air!

Get out all your winter throws, afghans, blankets and quilts. Launder them, then set out about your home.

But wait! There's more!!
  • Mail a letter to a friend.
  • Make cinnamon rolls.
  • Organize your closet.
  • Cook a comfort meal in a crockpot.
  • Have a "no screen" day.
  • Work on a craft, or better yet, start a new one.
  • Learn to knit or crochet.
  • Go outside and observe the stars. Winter skies are great for this.
  • Buy some new cozy socks.
  • Buy a new winter throw for the couch.

Put a fire in the fireplace. Don't let it sit empty. Enjoy it!

Create a cozy, inviting spot in your living room or den just for YOU. Be sure there's a candle, some soft pillows and a comfy throw.

Place candles and light them all over your abode. Don't have any? Go buy some!

Always have your cozy slippers and socks at the ready.
There you have it! Ideas for your winter bucket list!

Embrace the season. Have some fun. Do something this winter you haven't done before! You only live once. I quoted Michael Jordan in a previous blog about bucket lists, and I'll do it again: "Some people want it to happen, some wish it would happen, others make it happen." I like that! Enjoy the next two-three months. And please share with me any other ideas you have for a winter bucket list.
