Secrets and Seasonings of Grandparenting to Share and Exchange~
I want to share ideas and to be in contact with others who are passionate about being a grandparent, and who want to share their family history and traditions throughout the year, not just at Christmas. I organized this blog by the SEASONS of the year. My Philosophy~ I love life! It's a precious gift, and I believe life is what you make it! Sure we all have hard times--I don't want to make light of that. But one has to take the bitter with the sweet. And let's face it, the bitter makes the sweet ever sweeter! I love the quote from Shirley MacLaine: "I think of life itself now as a wonderful play I've written for myself, and so my purpose is to have the utmost fun playing my part." And my part? Gigi! This Is Me~ I share my home in Texas with my husband Alan, aka Poppa, and Lady, our sweet rescued dog. I've been at this grandma-gig since 2004, and I can honestly say, these have been some of the best years of my life. I taught public school for 36 years--from second grade to sixth. My favorite assignment was an integrated language arts/social studies class, and you'll probably see that reflected in my posts. I'm all about exploring our history and heritage as a family and creating and continuing traditions. I love crackling fires, sunsets, the High Plains of Texas, conversations with old friends, laughing hysterically, my morning cup of java, traveling with my hubby, and time spent in nature. But most of all? MY SWEET FAMILY! Books to get you started~ Grandmother, Another Name for Love by Alice Gray and Susan Walls The Gifts of Being Grand by Marianne R. Richmond |
